Francar site redevelopment project

A derelict textile factory located only a stone's throw from Deerlijk town centre and ripe for a new lease of life.

This premium residential project will be realised in a readily accessible location, close to all urban functions and barely 500 m from the town’s iconic church tower. Rather than behave like an island, the development will be designed to extend its arms out into the surrounding environment.

The open space around the monumental red beech tree will assume a subtle, traversable nature. This space will be encompassed by a number of detached, multi-family units, each with a varying number of bedrooms and private outdoor spaces. The street facades will be lined with town houses with small gardens, whilst more spacious homes with traditional, industrial-style warehouse roofs will occupy a central position on the field in a deliberate nod to the past. The entire development is designed to provide a secure green space that encourages congregation and play.

The project aspires to harness a mixture of houses and apartments in a highly accessible way, with a focus on both private and communal indoor and outdoor spaces.
